Hue Lynn Hillis Sr.

May 24, 1920 - February 20, 2012

Hue Lynn Hillis Sr. of Dawson was born May 24, 1920 to Mr. and Mrs. Augusta Hillis in Dawson and left this world on February 20, 2012 at the age of 91.

Mr. Hillis was a lifelong resident of the Dawson area where he farmed and ranched. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII where he spent over 33 months in the South Pacific.

Mr. Hillis was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers and one sister, Abe Broughton, Clyce Broughton and Hershel Broughton and Bill Wileman; his son-in-law, James Alfred Morris and two nephews, Jim P. Broughton and Huck Castleberry.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Opal Hillis; one son, Hue Lynn Hillis Jr. and wife, Cindy of Buffalo; one daughter, Linda Hillis Morris of Dawson; three grandchildren, Rachel and Preston McGinnis of Henderson, Trey Hillis, who is proudly serving his country in the United States Navy and Alex Morris, Jr. of Dawson; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Reese McGinnis of Henderson; three nephews, George and Pat Broughton, Joe and Dot Broughton and Ben and Karen Broughton; two nieces, Donna Hart and husband, Bobby of Childress and Wannie Lee Castleberry of Childress and numerous great nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, February 22 at Wade Funeral Home in Hubbard. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 23 at Wade Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Carpenter officiating. His final resting place will be at Dawson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Nesmith, Mark Mitchell, Heath Chasteen, Kenneth Golden, Tim Sanders, Tony Taylor, Collins Bumpers, Dan Nesmith and Don Nesmith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Turner, Norman Summers, A.J. Renfro, Buel Lee Hagle, Kenneth Bumpers, Ray Woods, Pete Chasteen, Lum Renfro and Mike Mitchell.
